Way Walkers Worldwide
I was 13 and standing on the church steps when I first realized God wanted me to be a preacher’s wife. Of course, I had no idea which preacher, but I was sure the message was from God. Fast forward six years, and I was standing at the altar, marrying a preacher. Fast forward another 50 years through multiple pastorates in both the US and Hong Kong, then retirement. Since retiring, Harry and I have been seeking God’s direction about how he wants to use us now. We’ve seen the desperate desire for training among those God has called to lead but who have limited access to educational opportunities. So, we’ve started a nonprofit organization called Way Walkers Worldwide to address that need.
Our recent trip to Myanmar and the Philippines opened our eyes. Church leaders in collectivist, honor/shame cultures rarely realize biblical writers wrote in and to the same kind of culture. Their stories are plentiful in Scripture, but they’ve been blind to them. Besides my teaching on recognizing the collectivist, honor/shame worldview in the Bible, Harry teaches pastors about preaching and church administration.
Our Mission
The mission of Way Walkers Worldwide is to help leaders lead, especially those who lack outside resources. We address church leadership needs through in-country, Christ-centered, biblically based, and culturally sensitive training.
Serving in diverse cultural settings revealed to us the challenges of carrying the message of Christ to a world dominated by other religions or no religion at all. Therefore, our passion is to use our gifts and experience to serve those ministers who have limited access to training.
Through the generous donations of supporters, we were able to provide training in Myanmar and the Philippines last fall. We’ve received positive, appreciative responses from those who have taken part in our training. We also have additional requests from Eastern Europe and several places in Asia and Africa. We’re seeking God’s leadership in determining where, when, and how he wants to use us.
